As she was about to lash out, he lowered his head and sealed her lips that were about to speak. When she struggled to escape from his grasp, his hand moved to hold the nape of her neck as he slid his tongue through her lips, savouring the taste of her.

“Uh…!” With her heart pounding like crazy, Anhao hammered his shoulders in a panicked state. “No… No… Uh…”

The man held her down tightly, but she relentlessly hit him back. After struggling for a couple of times, Anhao vaguely felt that the pajamas she was wearing were being taken off.

One by one, he neutralized all of her attacks, which greatly pissed her off. This in turn caused her to give him a stinging bite when he was kissing her.

Anhao did not realize how hard she had bitten him until she tasted blood in her mouth.

But lucky for her, her tactic worked somehow as Zuo Hancheng let go of her lips. She quickly turned away, avoiding his gaze and his kiss, choking on her words as she said, “I told you that I would listen to you, but I’m not ready yet! Zuo Hancheng, how could you do this to me?!”

The man who was suppressing her stopped what he originally intended to do. With bloodshot eyes, Anhao pushed him away with all her might. “Get off me…”

Below the man, the girl’s forceful resistance was the seed that truly ignited his desire. Witnessing the redness of her eyes, Zuo Hancheng finally realized what he had just done to her.

Intending to tease her at first, he failed to realize that he got too carried away, lost in his lustful desires. He had always been a man that was able to control his desires well, yet just moments ago he had almost taken her right there and then against her will.

Anhao thought that there was no way for her to escape. After all, she was his wife, and acting like this was not something a wife should do. However, she was truly not ready. Besides… Besides…

She felt the man bury his head between her neck and collarbone, his scorching breath peppered on her neck, making her all tingly and numb. At this moment, she had no idea what she should do.

Until he had stabilized his breathing; until he withdrew himself from her body all of a sudden.

When her body felt a sudden chill, Anhao then instinctively gathered up both her clothes and blanket before sitting up.

In a state of confusion, Zuo Hancheng left the bed in an instant after seeing her in that seemingly helpless state. She did not expect him to actually stop what he was doing, she hugged herself under the blanket while watching him walk out of the bedroom.

Then, she touched her lips, and on it was his blood that had flowed out when she bit him just now…

Anhao could not help but shiver upon thinking about how hard she had bitten him, realizing that she might have gone slightly overboard.

However, if she did not do that, then perhaps Zuo Hancheng would have made a real woman out of her. After all, she saw the self-control and forbearance in his eyes the moment he got up from the bed.

While alone in her thoughts, she was stunned as she suddenly heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom and proceeded to turn toward the door. ‘Is he… taking the legendary cold shower?’

When Zuo Hancheng walked out of the bathroom, Anhao had already straightened her pajamas and was cowering under the blanket with only her eyes and forehead visible, covertly glancing at him.

She was relieved upon noticing that the wound on his lip did not seem too serious. There were no traces of anger on his face either, like he had already calmed down. By the time he returned to the bed, she could feel the coolness of his body. Without much thought, she gently tugged at his sleeve and asked, “You… you… you took a cold shower?”

Zuo Hancheng had not said anything since he left the bed. When she pulled at his sleeve, he looked back to see her looking apologetically at him while curled up under the blanket.

Initially, upon realizing that he had crossed the line in the way he treated her, he was feeling rather befuddled. However, upon seeing the trace of regret in her eyes and her hand that was tugging at his sleeve, he gave a light smile. Somehow, he was touched by the tenderness of this small yet affectionate gesture of hers. “Don’t worry. Go to sleep.”

Anaho felt even more apologetic the moment she heard that. After releasing her grip on the blanket, she sat up and placed a hand on his body. ‘So cold.’

He was in the bathroom for quite a long time, it was probably around twenty minutes long. ‘He took a twenty-minute long cold shower!’

Zuo Hancheng furrowed his brows and glanced at her. “Are you trying to tempt me?”

Anhao quickly withdrew her hand. “No. It’s just that… your body is way too cold.”

Upon seeing the inexplicable coldness in his eyes, Anhao feared that she would be skinned alive without a proper burial if she were to touch him again.

She gathered up her blanket and curled up on her side of the bed. “I won’t touch you anymore, but I seem to recall a lecture on TV saying that it’s not good for men to take a cold shower at times like this…”

“What kind of nonsensical lecture did you watch?”

“…Nothing, just talking nonsense! I’m gonna sleep now!”

Seeing that his frown had deepened further, Anhao hastily burrowed back under her blanket and covered her head.

At the beginning, she was truly exhausted, but after what had happened she found herself very much awake. Snuggled under the blanket with darkness all around her, all that she was focused on was the movements of the other person.

Not long after, Zuo Hancheng finally lifted his side of the blanket and slid under it. He suddenly reached out and pulled Anhao into his arms. As she was still wide awake, her body instantly stiffened. “Zuo…”

“Just sleep. I won’t touch you.”

While embracing her in his arms, he gently patted her head like he was coaxing a kitten that he had frightened just now.

His voice was still rather hoarse and his body was no longer cold like it was moments ago. As Anhao rested in his arms, she could smell a masculine, clean and fresh scent that came along with the fragrance of his shower gel.

Being held like this in his arms, Anhao should naturally feel more tensed up. However, it could be due to the pleasant fragrance he was exuding, or that she had never been embraced in such a way that gave her a sense of protection; she started to feel sleepy.

Being so intimately close to him like this, the thought that the man would rather take a cold shower rather force himself on her was still running through her head. Just because she was young, it did not mean that she was ignorant to the point where she did not understand such things.

Therefore, she could not help but silently ask while in his arms, “Zuo Hancheng… why did you marry me…?”

He did not reply, and the air was filled with their shallow breathing. However, after what had transpired and what he had gone through, Anhao was pretty sure that he was still awake,

As such, she resorted to mumbling to herself in his arms, “You’re obviously wealthy. And you probably hold quite a lot of power too, considering how terrified the Xu family was when in your presence. So, why would such a person like you marry me?”
